Driver strikes police officer while fleeing traffic stop in NYC

A Mercedes driver rammed into an officer when he fled a traffic stop in Queens over the weekend, authorities said. 

Two cops attempted to stop the vehicle on 22nd Street near 37th Avenue in Long Island City around 12:20 p.m. Saturday when the motorist took off, hitting one of the officers, police said. 

The suspect wearing all black, a silver chain and blue sneakers.

The officer, who was struck in the right arm and leg, went to Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition. 

Cops released photos of the bearded suspect, wearing all black, a silver chain and blue sneakers, as well as the Mercedes, late Sunday.
